ORGANIZATION MEETING
JANUARY 6, 2014

CALL TO ORDER: The Organization Meeting of the Point Marion Borough Council was called to order by Mayor Ables at 7:00 PM. A moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: Councilmen DuBois, Reynolds, Kaczmarczyk, White, Kelley, Councilwomen Shaffer, Evans and Mayor Ables. All members present, a quorum present.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Mayor Albes opened the nominations for the office of President of Council. A motion by Councilman Kelley and second by Councilwoman Evans to nominate Councilman DuBois for President of Council. Having no other nominations, the Secretary cast the ballot for Alfred E. DuBois Sr. as President of Council. President DuBois took his seat and opened the nominations for the office of Vice President. A nomination by Councilwoman Shaffer for Gary A. Reynolds as Vice President of Council. Having no other nominations, a motion by Councilman Kaczmarczyk and second by Councilman White to close the nominations and elect Gary A. Reynolds as Vice President of Council, roll call showed all in favor, motion carried by unanimous vote.

APPOINTMENTS: A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilman White to appoint all existing officers and other appointments at same agreements as on 2013. The appointments include Secretary/Treasurer/Borough Manager, Solicitor, Financial Institution, Bill Collector, and Engineering Firm. Roll call showed all in favor, motion carried by unanimous vote.

MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Ables presented and reviewed the Code Enforcement Report for 2013.

SECRETARY/TREASURER/BOROGUH MANAGER’S REPORT: No Report

COMMITTEE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
BUILDING AND GROUNDS: No Report
SOLID WASTE COLLECTION/RECYCLING: Mr. Strimel reported that he has been
having some complaints about missing pickups in different areas for November and December.
GRANTS/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Councilwoman Evans reminded Council on the Regional Trail Retreat to be held January 25th at Greensburg, for information contact Vickie. Also a Rivertown Meeting at California at 7:45AM on January 24th.
PARK: Councilwoman Evans stated that the committee is working on final plans for the Bowers Hoagie Sale with proceeds going to help finance the Regatta and the possibility of having a Farmer’s Market this coming season.

POLICE: None

STREETS: No Report

MINUTES: Council reviewed the minutes of the December 18, 2013 Regular Meeting and having no additions or corrections, a motion by Councilman White and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to accept the minutes as presented. Motion Carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilman Kelley to set the meeting date and time as the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM.
A motion by Councilman White and second by Councilman Kelley to go into an Executive Session for personnel at 7:49 PM. Motion Carried.
A motion by Councilman White and second by Vice President Reynolds to return regular session at 8:31 PM. Motion Carried. President DuBois stated that no action would be taken at this time as a result of the Executive Session.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: None

ADJOURNMENT: Having no other business to come before Council, a motion by Councilwoman Shaffer and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to adjourn at 8:32 PM. Motion Carried.
