CALL TO ORDER: The Regular Meeting of the Point Marion Borough Council was called to order by President DuBois at 7:04 PM. A moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL: President DuBois, Vice President Reynolds, Councilwomen Shaffer, Evans, Griffith, Councilman Kaczmarzyk present with Mayor Ables arriving at 7:14 PM.
ENGINEER’S REPORT: Richard Colebank of Alpha Associated reported on the status of the Water Line Project stating that all that is left to complete the project is to work out the Change Order cost with the Contractor. He also presented Payment Request # 27 in the amount for final engineering fees. A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilwoman Evans to approve the payment request and authorize the President to execute the necessary paperwork subject to approval of the Solicitor. Motion Carried.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Council reviewed the minutes of the August 20, 2014 Regular Meeting that were provided prior to this meeting. Having no additions or corrections, a motion by Councilwoman Evans and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to accept the minutes as presented. Motion Carried.
MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Ables reviewed the Activity Report from Southwest Regional Police Department for July. He stated that he is well satisfied with the work of the department. He also reviewed the Activity Report of the Code Officer for May, June and July. He stated that Lou is working approximately 3 days a week and is using the majority of his time setting up the policies for the rental ordinance.
SECRETARY/TREASURER/BOROUGH MANAGER’S REPORT: Mr. Strimel reported on the insurance policies that were renewed on July 29th. He stated that he had only received one proposal and it was from our current carried. The Workman Compensation Policy came in $ 39,043.00 which was $ 888.00 less than last year. The Liability Policy is $ 15,921.00 which also is lower by $ 813.00. This was primary due to the fact that we now have Southwest Regional Police and have one less employee and do not have to pay insurance on the police car. A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to approve the purchase of the insurance policies for August 1, 2014 to August 1, 2015. BUILDING AND GROUNDS: No Report
SOLID WASTE COLLECTION/RECYCLING: No Report
GRANTS/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Councilwoman Evans stated
that Donna Holdorf has requested names of local contractors to give
proposals for the renovation of the bathrooms at the field house. She also
stated that we need to spend $ 350.00 on brush removal that is left from a
grant. She ask for suggestion on what we should purchase and it was
decided to use it on weed killer.
PARK: There is a Birthday Party and Church Service with a Picnic later,
scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The Rotary is sponsoring a Beginners
Soccer Clinic the first three Saturdays in September and the annual Bike
Race will be held on September 27, 2014. She report that the movie
season in complete and although only two movies were shown due to the weather they were well received. Bigger and better plans are already in
the works for next year.
