CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the Point Marion Borough Council was called to order by President DuBois at 7:05PM. A moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL: President DuBois, Councilwomen Shaffer, Evans, Griffith, Councilman Kelley present with Vice President Reynolds, Councilman Kaczmarczyk and Mayor Ables absent. A quorum is present.
ENGINEER’S REPORT: None
PUBLIC COMMENT: Linda Strimel questioned about keeping chickens, mainly a Rooster in the Borough. She has heard comments from residents in the area complaining of the crowing in the morning.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Council reviewed the minutes of the August 6, 2014, Regular Meeting that were provided prior to this meeting. Having no additions or corrections, a motion by Councilwoman Evans and second by Councilwoman Griffith to accept the minutes as presented. Motion Carried.
MAYOR’S REPORT: None
SECRETARY/TREASURER/BOROUGH MANAGER’S REPORT:
Mr. Strimel reported on the status of our insurance policies and stated that he had secured coverage with our existing carrier and due to the deletion of the police car, police employees and police liability coverage our premiums will be lower than the past year. He will have a complete report at the next meeting. He also reported on problems at the 4th Avenue pump station. A valve malfunctioned and had to be replaced and the other pump was partially blocked due to objects that are not supposed to be put into the sewer system. We had to have a vacuum truck in to clean out the wet well of these items. All task were completed without a complete shutdown of the system.
SOLICITOR’S REPORT: Mr. Grimm reported on a response from Columbia Gas Co. about damage claim for a line that was damaged on Morgantown Street. He also stated that he is still working on the Camp Run Park Bridge issue and is working on agreement for the field house bathrooms for the rail trail.

Regular Meeting August 6, 2014
GRANTS/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Councilwoman Evans reported
on the Lenders Meeting held at the firehall on Thursday July 31, 2014.
There were various speakers from financial institutions that shared ideas for small business financing and startup. She also stated that there are many programs available that are aimed at small business. She reported on a meeting with Donna Holdorf to begin design for the bathrooms in the field house. We will invite contractors to present proposals for the renovation of the bathrooms.
PARK: The next Park Commission will be Wednesday August 13, 2014 at
7:00PM at the Borough Building. Councilman Kelley reported that area churches will operate the Concession Stand for ball games and events for the rest of this year and talks are going forward with the Fayette Westmoreland Boy Scouts about setting up the Venture Scout program. The Basketball Camp was held last Wednesday thru Saturday and between 30-40 youth took part. Everyone feels that it was a great success. There were kids from all over the area, they seemed to have a good time, learned something and all received a new basketball.
LIBRARY: Councilwoman Evans presented the Library Report for June giving
a list of the activities and number of residents that utilize the facility. She also noted that the WV Raptors Society presented a program that was greatly accepted by all those that attended.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: School starts Monday August 25, 2014. Movies at the Park will be Friday August 8, 2014 and Saturday August 16, 2014.
