POINT MARION BOROUGH REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 15, 2014

CALL TO ORDER: The Regular Meeting of the Point Marion Borough Council was called to order by President DuBois at 7:00 PM. A moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: President DuBois, Vice President Reynolds, Councilwomen Evans, Griffith, Councilmen Kaczmarczyk, Kelley and Mayor Ables present with Councilwoman Shaffer absent.

ENGINEERS REPORT: Mr. Colebank of Alpha Associates Inc. addressed Council to update the status of the Water Line Project. Some of the final paperwork has been completed and he is in hope the by the end of November all will be done and the project can be closed out.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

READING OF THE MINUTES: Council reviewed the minutes of the September 1, 2014 Regular Meeting that were prepared by Councilwoman Evans. Having no additions or corrections, a motion by Councilman Kelley and second by Vice President Reynolds to accept the minutes as presented. Motion Carried.

SECRETARY/TREASURER/BOROUGH MANAGER’S REPORT: No Report

SOLICITOR’S REPORT: No Report

COMMITTEE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
BUILDING AND GROUNDS: No Report
SOLID WASTE COLLECTION/RECYCLING: No Report
GRANTS/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Councilwoman Evans reported
on the FERC public hearing concerning the Hydro-power project for Point
Marion Lock & Dam held on Wednesday Oct. 8th in Uniontown. There were
not many in attendance but a lot of questions were poised to FERC. There are
many new requirements that will have to be met by the developer. She and
Councilman Kelley met with representatives of the Trailtown Program
concerning grants to better the community. They will be back on November
12th for the Park Meeting.
PARK: Councilman Kelley met with members of the Westmoreland/Fayette
and received forms to finalize the sponsorship of the scout program. A
Regatta Meeting will be held on October 20, 2014 at the 7:30 PM at the
Borough Building.

LIBRARY: No Report
POLICE: No Report
STREETS: Mr. Strimel reported that employees have serviced all of the snow
equipment and have made repairs to the anti-skip spreader. We have received
70 ton of ashes and have enough salt to begin the winter.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Coffee and Conversation Wednesday October 22nd at 7:30 at the Borough Building. Annual Halloween Parade Tuesday October 28th at 6:00 PM, Trick or Treating October 31st from 6:00PM to 7:30PM

ADJOURNMENT: Having no other business to come before Council, a motion by Councilwoman Evans and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to adjourn the meeting at 7:56 PM. Motion Carried.
