POINT MARION BOROUGH REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 3, 2014

CALL TO ORDER: The Regular Meeting of the Point Marion Borough Council was called to order by President DuBois at 7:03 PM. A moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: President DuBois, Vice President Reynolds, Councilwomen Shaffer, Griffith, Councilman Kaczmarczyk and Mayor Ables present, with Councilwoman Evans and Councilman Kelley absent. A quorum is present.

ENGINEER’S REPORT: None

PUBLIC COMMENT: None

READING OF THE MINUTES: Council reviewed the minutes that were provided prior to the meeting and having no additions or correction, a motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to accept the minutes as presented. Motion Carried.

MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Ables reported that the siren on the police car had to be replaced.

SECRETARY/TREASURER/BOROUGH MANAGER’S REPORT: Mr. Strimel presented Council with a proposal for repairs to the water storage tank. Mr. Grimm felt an Executive Session was needed to discuss possible legal issues. A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to go into an Executive Session for a legal matter at 7:20PM. Motion Carried. A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilwoman Griffith to return to Regular Session at 7:29PM. Mr. Grimm reviewed the proposal and advised Council that it was proper due to the fact that it was part of the original contract and that action is appropriate A motion by Vice President Reynolds and second by Councilman Kaczmarczyk to accept the proposal to repair and reseal the tank in the amount of $ 24,454.00. Roll call showed, motion carried by unanimous vote.

SOLICITOR’S REPORT: Mr. Grimm stated that the area in question at the Camp Run Park Bridge needs to be surveyed before we can go forward with action resolve that issue.

COMMITTEE REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
BULDING AND GROUNDS: Vice President Reynolds reported that he and the Mayor have begun acquiring the materials to repair the front porch.
SOLID WASTE COLLECTION/RECYCLING: No Report

PARK: Councilwoman Griffith reported at the last Park Commission Meeting
security was discussed and they will be seeking prices to relock the doors
with locks that keys cannot be duplicated.

NEW BUSINESS: None

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Rotary Club meeting Thursday at 6:00 PM will have a program on a Back Pack Program for school age children.

ADJOURNMENT: Having no other business to come before Council, a motion by Councilwoman Shaffer and second by Vice President Reynolds to adjourn at 8:07 PM. Motion Carried.
